(Grilled Pacific Saury, Japanese Radish Salad with Carrots, Green Chilies and Dried Seaweed, Pickled White Radish, and Miso Soup))

It's almost the end of the season for the Pacific saury here in Japan, so I grilled them, and had them with grated Japanese radish, fresh green perilla leaves, and ponzu. For a salad, I shredded some Japanese radish and carrots and added some green chilies and Korean dried seaweed for toppings. I had some Japanese plum dressing, so that was perfect. I had some pickled white radish left from last night, so we had that as a third dish. With some steamed rice and miso soup, it was a perfect Japanese supper!

(Yamanashi Prefecture, Takane Town, Kiyosato)

My wife and I were in Kiyosato, Yamanashi Prefecture a bit ago. My mom took us to a nice restaurant called "Rock" that served home brewed beer and home-made sausages. Their token beef curry with the sausages were just great. If you ever get a chance to visit Kiyosato, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant for a nice lunch. Oh, and for all you beer drinkers, their have quite a bit of choice, and their home-brewed beers are highly recommended.

2011 ②(Matsuri Tsukuba Festival 2011 Part 2)

We went to a Japanese summer festival in Tsukuba City yesterday. We spent a bit of time getting ready in our Yukata (Kimono-like traditional summer ware) and headed down around 5pm. We watch the Nebuta parade, shopped around for munchies, and walked around to see all other attractions. I guess we were a little late to see various stage events (dances and music performances, comedy skit and the usual), but we got there just in time for the bit parade. By the time we got around to searching for some munchies, some of the food stalls were beginning to close up, but we did get some nice herb sausages, tantoori chicken, and noodles. We bought some extra to take home too! Overall, it was a lot of fun. Great weather, but not too hot either. Above all, we got to wear our Yukata for the first time and the last time this year!

2011(Tsukuba Festival 2011)

This weekend is Tsukuba Festival (Matsuri Tsukuba). I am quite fond of Japanese festivals, because they have excellent stalls that provides me with good food. It is also a chance for us to wear Yukata (Kimono-like traditional Japanese summer wear)! It always takes long to prepare, because we are not use to wearing them, but it's all worth it in the end, because we enjoy the whole atmosphere of being festive. We haven't had the opportunity to wear our Yukata this summer yet, so this would be our first and last chance to do so this year. Obviously, I am writing this before going to the festival, but I don't think I am going to upload this post until I am back, so I will leave it here. The forecast suggests that it's going to be rainy all weekend, so I need to keep my fingers crossed! I will write the next post when I get back!

(Osaka Kushiage "Ichi")

We went to a Japanese restaurant tonight. It was our second time there, and we love their food very very much. The place has a retro kinda look inside, but the store itself is very well taken care of. It is affordable, and the service was great too. We would definitely go there again.
