朝食やランチを作るのが面倒な時は前の晩からお弁当を作っておきます。今日はシュウマイが安かったので、お弁当に入れちゃえと思って作りました。玄米を食べることが多いので、今回のお弁当も玄米で!大根のゆかり和え、ブロッコリーとパプリカのマヨサラダ、刺身こんにゃくとちくわとトマトのポン酢和えを玄米とシュウマイと一緒に詰めました。あんまりかわいい感じのお弁当じゃないけど十分美味しかったですよ!もうちょっとカラフルなのがいいかな・・・。でも玄米だとどうしてもお弁当が茶色っぽくなっちゃうんですよね。
Bento Box is a part of Japanese everyday life. Usually, your mommy makes one for you in the morning, and you take it to school for lunch. When I was a child, everyone in my family had their own lunch boxes with various designs and sizes. Our lunch boxes are relatively small, but contains enough for lunch. I don't like to spend too much time preparing lunch, so I often make lunch boxes after dinner for the next day. This time, Shumai Dumplings were on sale, so I thought of making lunch boxes with them. I added daikon (Japanese white radish) and salted seaweed salad; broccoli and yellow paprika salad with mayo and lemon juice; and chikuwa (tubular roll of grilled fish paste), tomato, and sashimi konjak salad with ponzu. The lunch boxes themselves are quite cute, but colourful silicon dividers (so that different dishes don't get mixed up with the lunch box) are awesome too! If you get a chance to buy a lunch box, I think it would be fun making one!!
