冷麺の夕食(Dinner with Korean Style Cold Noodles)

夕食に冷麺とはお粗末な感じもしますが、冷凍庫の麺類が多くなってきたのと、体調が優れないこともあり・・・。サラダスティックにはきゅうり、大根、人参に赤パプリカを盛り、味噌とマヨネーズをディップに頂きました。水菜の上に置いたシュウマイは安売りの物。ちょっと中華を演じたかったので冷奴には豆板醤をごま油でのばしたペーストを白ネギで和えたものを添えました。冷麺はインスタント物ですが、ハム、トマト、黄パプリカ、きゅうり、豆腐を添えてみました。もちろんトッピングは白胡麻に少しの豆板醤と胡麻油。美味しかったですよ。

I feel weird making this kind of noodle dishes for supper because I always thought of these dishes as for lunch, but I had a lot of veggies in the fridge, so I made some veggie sticks with miso and mayo pastes, steamed Chinese meat dumplings (they were on sale), tofu with spring onion, dou ban jang (Chinese paste), and sesame oil. You should also take this "Korean Style Cold Noodles" with a grain of salt. Direct translation from the Japanese name of the dish would simply by "cold noodles," but since we have so may cold noodle dishes, I had to come up with something that differentiates this from others. I chose this term mostly from Google search, and I am quite sure, especially from what I ate in South Korea, it is likely far from authentic Korean dish. So the name is mostly for convenience, just like many so-called Japanese dishes abroad! I guess I could say the same about the dumplings as well. The dish itself is not really fair to claim my own because it is very popular here to buy packages of noodles with sauce already attached. I am not sure if you can find these things abroad, but if you are in Japan, it is worth trying it out!
